BPI Credit Card Phishing Scam: Avoid Falling For The Trap – There has been an email spreading to random people recently containing a supposed alert that as part of a “Security Policy” where recipients are asked to submit their account information through a form online so they can keep their accounts secured.

BPI has already issued a warning regarding the spam on their website. If you think you are a victim of a scam, immediately secure your account by logging in to secure1.bpiexpressonline.com and then going to Account Maintenance > Change Password. never share your password to anyone online.

 

Online Banking: Email Phishing Advisory

To all BPI Online Banking users:

This is to inform you of the re-emergence of email phishing scams meant to prey on unsuspecting EOL users. Phishing e-mails are sent to trick targeted individuals into revealing personal and financial information.

Recently, some Online Banking users received an email that seemed to come from BPI Online Banking or BPI Mobile Banking. Fraudsters make it appear as if the email came from the bank. Clicking on the link, directed users to a fake website that asked for confidential user information that can be used for fraudulent activities. Please be informed that this is a phishing scam. BPI will never ask its users to login to their online accounts through embedded links nor secure personal and/or banking information via unsolicited emails.

While the BPI Online Banking Team has already taken action regarding this phishing activity, we, nevertheless, would like to ask you to exercise caution in providing personal and financial information on suspicious websites.

If you receive a suspicious e-mail, immediately report it to the bank. Please send a copy of the e-mail you received to expressonline@bpi.com.ph.

How to avoid BPI Credit Card Phishing Scam?

To secure your account, you can do the following..

  • Whenever you are logged in at BPI’s website, take note that the official link should always start with secure1.bpiexpressonline.com
  • BPI never asks customer to verify their Credit card information by entering their account credentials via links in unsolicited emails.
  • If you get a suspicious email, you can report it right away to expressonline@bpi.com.ph.
  • Change your password from time to time to secure the account.
  • Always check the URL whenever you access the website. Make sure that a security encryption is enabled via https. Fake website does not normally use an encryption. Your URL should looks similar to this:
